Dried Distiller Grains with Solubles (DDGS) is a nutrient rich co-product of dry-milled ethanol production. Its utilization as a Feed ingredient is well documented as both an energy- and a protein supplement. The primary basis of DDGS can be from corn, wheat or rye. Average moisture level in-between the 10-13%.
Being a derivate of grain processing for ethanol, Dried Distiller Grains, with solubles, offer a ton of nutrition. With a protein/fat combination exceeding 35 percent, these processed grains cover both the protein and energy requisite in ruminant diets, while positively influencing milk production. The fibre and fat composition of the product is readily digestible and provides ample of energy for ruminant-, monogastric-, poultry or even aquaculture diets.
Along with these intrinsic characteristics, the palatability of the product is excellent, enhancing intake and growth. For poultry, the inclusion of DDGS proves to have a positive effect on the egg yolk colour and overall egg quality. The product is applicable as a direct feed or able to be included as part of compound feed. Inclusion rates for the product vary between 15 and 25 percent, depending on its application.
